PLAID TIDINGS
BARN III THEATRE, GOODFIELD, IL

WAIT LIST ONLY

The Barn is back! Since 1975, the Conklin's Barn (later known as the Barn II) has been hosting generations of theatergoers. In August 2015, the building was hit by a storm and destroyed. Although the old barn could not be salvaged, many pieces of the original barn have been repurposed and can be seen within the new Barn III building. The new barn is built on the same footprint as the old Barn II, but is slightly larger. It has the same look and feel of the old barn with many new, modern amenities. The new building returns with all of the Barn II players back in action, ready to perform for visitors!

In this holiday show, Francis, Jinx, Smudge and Sparky aren't sure why they've returned to Earth for another posthumous performance, but a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know that they're needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world. Sprinkled among the Christmas offerings are audience favorites like their riotous three-minute-and-eleven-second version of The Ed Sullivan Show—this time, featuring the Rockettes, the Chipmunks and the Vienna Boys Choir, as well as a Plaid Caribbean Christmas that puts the "Day-O" in Excelsis! This will be the perfect Barn reunion performance for the Holiday Season!

Prior to the show we will enjoy one of the Barn's amazing meals! Always popular at the Barn is their Beer Cheese & Crackers along with assorted fresh bread! Entrée choices include Prime Rib, Pork Loin or Fried Chicken. All meals come with choice of salad, Rosemary Roasted Potatoes, Alfredo Pasta, Green Beans, choice of Dessert and Coffee, Tea or Soda! *Meal choices subject to change.

Teatro Zinzanni
Chicago, IL

WAIT LIST ONLY

For over 26 years, Teatro ZinZanni has welcomed audiences to intimately staged productions featuring over-the-top theatrics paired with lavish food and drink. While each Teatro ZinZanni is unique, the recipe is consistent: a dash of circus, a hint of Vaudeville and a whisper of cabaret. Teatro ZinZanni's productions unify the immeasurable talents from the best-of cirque, music, comedy, magic, and entertainment. Each Teatro ZinZanni performance is distinctly interactive and playful: to attend Teatro ZinZanni is to be a part of Teatro ZinZanni. And while attendees are encouraged to wear formal wear, they are also encouraged to embrace their wild, informal tendencies.

The show is housed in a treasure of both history and magic: an antique Belgian Spiegeltent, which is on the 14th floor of the Cambria Hotel. This intricate structure transports us to a bygone era of opulence, blending artistry with entertainment.  Originating in the early 20th century, Spiegeltents, or "mirror tents" in Dutch toured Europe's cities bringing delight to audiences with their ornate beauty.  These tents were the highlight of every countryside fair, acting as mobile palaces for dancing and happy gatherings. They could be erected and taken down very quickly. Crafted of intricate woodwork and stained glass and detailed in velvet and brocade, each tent has its own personality and style.

Following our 4 course lunch and show, we will travel to Oak Brook, IL to visit the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, a Smithsonian Affiliate Museum.  This museum is dedicated to the lapidary arts (the practice of shaping stone, minerals or other gemstones into decorative items such as cabochons, engraved gems (including cameos) and faceted designs, with displays of gemstones, jewelry and bejeweled objects, along with exhibits on earth science.  The Lizzadro Museum was opened on November 4, 1962.  The museum was founded by Joseph Lizzadro, an Italian immigrant to the USA who began collecting jades as part of his interest in cutting and polishing precious stones for jewelry.  His collection came to include pieces made of amber, ivory, coral, agate and other gemstones.
