CHICAGO:  THEN & NOW, JULY 23-24, 2020

“The more things change, the more things stay the same.” Join us as we discover how the men who re-built Chicago after the great fire laid a foundation which continues to impact life today.  Our guided tours will feature both old and new creations and architectural designs. On day one discover hidden gems most visitors probably don’t know exist in Chicago. We begin above the city touring a rooftop garden located on the Schwab Rehabilitation Center filled with plush fauna, waterfalls, and more. Following lunch, we go below the streets of Chicago for a guided tour to learn about “a city within a city.” Discover the intricate pedestrian walkway locals use to get around in downtown Chicago called the Pedway.  Customize your evening from a list of options including an optional tour and interactive meal at Chicago’s Chinatown and Cultural Institute.  On day two, our step on guide created a day long experience centered around the University of Chicago on South Lake Shore Drive. We will begin our day with a driving tour hearing about the university that Rockefeller built. This institute of higher learning continues to be a top five academic school annually, has graduated the most Nobel Prize winners, was the site of Enrico Fermi’s work in nuclear reactions, and more.  Our day also includes guided tours of Robie House by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Oriental Institute which is considered the jewel of the university, and the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel which is referred to as the most impressive structure on campus.
