THE HISTORIC TRAINS OF COLORADO
The trains are running next September through the majestic beauty that is Colorado. As we arrive in Denver our journey begins as we travel towards Colorado Springs with a stop at the famous US Air Force Academy. This trip includes five historic train excursions. Experience majestic views aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway featuring incredible views of the Colorado Rockies. Enjoy the view aboard a Vista Dome car on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Our trip continues as we take the original route of the Rio Grande Line aboard the historic coal fired Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad as we travel through narrow canyons, tunnels, and many more scenic views along the Rockies. The next train ride on the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is one of the “Top Ten Most Exciting Train Journeys in the World” featuring breathtaking views of the San Juan National Forest. From snow-capped mountains to rushing mountain streams, this ride will showcase some of the most beautiful views that are iconic to Colorado. The last historic train included is aboard the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Don’t miss out on taking photos of the spectacular views and one-of-a-kind vistas of Clear Creek Valley. This 8-day trip also features stops at the Garden of the Gods, the Royal Gorge with one of the highest suspended bridges in the world, Mesa Verde National Park known for its remarkably preserved cliff dwellings and pit homes of the Pueblo Indians, UTE Indian Museum after traveling through the Red Mountains on the Million Dollar Highway, the Colorado National Monument featuring brilliant orange and red sandstone formations carved from years of wind and rain, and so much more. ALBUQUERQUE BALLOON FIESTA
Enjoy the skies over New Mexico in October as hundreds of balloons paint the skies at Fiesta Park. This annual event, which began in 1972, features over 600 balloons from all over the world. Experience the "mass ascension" of all of the balloons lifting off at sunrise. This trip features a tour of Albuquerque along with witnessing the burners of almost 500 balloons filling the night sky and topping the event off with a fireworks display. Explore Old Town, enjoy a private tour of the Pueblo Cultural Center featuring an exclusive live performance of a Native American Troupe, visit the Loretto Chapel in Sante Fe, the Pecos National Historic Park which features the site of the Battle of Gloreta Pass (the western most battle of the Civil War), along with time to explore many wonderful southwestern locations and shop at unique gift shops along the way.
