2017 Day Trips:

We are already hard at work looking for fun and entertaining venues for next year for our Vista members! Not all ideas are complete yet, but here is a quick Save-the-Date Calendar that you might be interested in:

Wednesday, March 29, 2017 -- Flanagan's Wake at Chicago Theater Works, Chicago, IL

This hilarious interactive matinee lunch and performance will have you in stitches! It will be similar to We Gotta Bingo that we enjoyed immensely in 2015 but based around some St. Patrick's Day shenanigans!!! Flanagan's Wake, transports the audience to the fictional town of Grapplin, County Sligo, Ireland, where local roustabout, Flanagan, has died. Here we meet an eclectic cast of characters including Fiona Finn, Flanagan's spirited fiancée of 22 years, Brian Ballybunion, his best friend and drinking mate, Father Damon Fitzgerald, the sharp-tongued parish priest, Mayor O'Doul, the town mayor and bartender, the innocent Mother Flanagan and several other colorful citizens.

Vista is planning a joint venture into Chicago for this day with all four Vista offices coordinating our efforts, so motor coach schedules, pricing, etc. will be determined after the first of the year, but you can call and register immediately!

Thursday, April 20, 2017 -- Silent Sky at First Folio Theatre and Tour of Mayslake Peabody Estate, Clarendon Hills, IL

This performance is based on a true story of Henrietta Swan Leavitt, one of the historic "computer ladies" at Harvard's Observatory in the early 20th century. Despite never being allowed to use the telescope (because she was a woman), Henrietta made ground-breaking discoveries that shook the foundations of astronomy and made possible the work of Dr. Edwin Hubble and every astronomer to follow. Alternately poignant and funny, this is a sweet, surprising look at one of the long forgotten women of history. We would also include a tour of the interesting Mayslake Peabody Estate which houses the theater.

Lunch or dinner will be incorporated into the trip also when we have finalized the time and pricing. Reservations are open!

Thursday, May 11, 2017 -- My Fair Lady & Backstage Tour at Lyric Opera House, Chicago, IL

This lovely and iconic performance will thrill you today just as much as it has done on stage and on film for so many years. It is the story of Eliza Doolittle, a rough Cockney girl, who meets Colonel Pickering and Henry Higgins in Covent Garden where she's selling flowers. When Higgins remarks that he could help Eliza speak properly and raise her status in the community, Pickering challenges him to do so and Eliza takes him up on the offer. Though difficult and frustrating for both Eliza and Higgins at first, the lessons soon begin to work wonders, and produce results that neither predict. You will tap your toes and want to sing along to the uplifting music of "Wouldn't It Be Loverly," "Rain in Spain," "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Get Me to the Church On Time," "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," and so many more.

Not only will you be treated to a wonderful performance, we are waiting to confirm a most interesting tour of the Backstage at the Lyric Opera House, which includes lunch. Step in the footprints of so many performers, see the dressing rooms, watch the seamstresses perform magic, view the huge closets, get an insider's view of the lighting demands, and so much more! It will be a one-stop-shop for a lovely day! Reservations are open.
