2017 Day Trips:
Thursday, May 11, 2017 -- My Fair Lady & Backstage Tour at Lyric Opera House, Chicago, IL
This lovely and iconic performance will thrill you today just as much as it has done on stage and on film for so many years. It is the story of Eliza Doolittle, a rough Cockney girl, who meets Colonel Pickering and Henry Higgins in Covent Garden where she's selling flowers. When Higgins remarks that he could help Eliza speak properly and raise her status in the community, Pickering challenges him to do so, and Eliza takes him up on the offer. Though difficult and frustrating for both Eliza and Higgins at first, the lessons soon begin to work wonders, and produce results that neither predict. You will tap your toes and want to sing along to the uplifting music of "Wouldn't It Be Loverly," "Rain in Spain," "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Get Me to the Church On Time," "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," and so many more.
Not only will you be treated to a wonderful performance, we will enjoy a most interesting tour of the Backstage at the Lyric Opera House. Step in the footprints of so many performers, see the dressing rooms, watch the seamstresses perform magic, view the huge closets, get an insider's view of the lighting demands, and so much more! It will be a one-stop-shop for a lovely day! We will enjoy lunch (on your own) at the 3rd floor Florian Opera Bistro. WAIT LIST ONLY.
Fee Includes: Performance, backstage tour, transportation, all tips, taxes. Lunch on your own at the Opera.

Thursday & Friday, September 7-8, 2017 -- Wandering Wisconsin (Girls Days Out)
Day 1: Pack your overnight bag and let’s go for a fun-filled getaway north to Wisconsin! Our first adventure begins at the Janesville Rotary Botanical Gardens where we will enjoy coffee, muffins, and a docent-led stroll along the paths in this 20 acre expanse, filled with 24 different gardens and over 4000 varieties of plants. Then it is off to the popular Fireside Theatre for their delicious lunch, gift shops (can’t miss those), and performance of the Church Basement Ladies. You be rolling with laughter at these antics! Next, it’s onward to Milwaukee where we will experience a smorgasbord of activities. What is more Wisconsin than beer? You will enjoy the Lakefront Brewery where we will be treated to a guided tour of the brewery followed by a hefty sampling of beer and a light meal of hors d'oeuvres. This tour (rated #4 Brewery Tour in the U.S.) will keep you laughing as you are educated about the beer making process and the history of the brewery...this tour is renowned for it’s entertaining guides! Ready for bed? We’re checking into the Fairfield Inn located in the famous Third Ward district. Remainder of the evening is at your leisure to wander along the Third Ward Riverwalk, in the unique shops, or catch a free shuttle to the Potawatomie Casino. Don’t stay out too late … we have a full day ahead tomorrow.
Day 2: Following our hotel breakfast, we hop on our coach with a step-on guide who will provide an interesting overview of the City of Milwaukee including the architecture, history, ethnic wards, and much more. We will time it just right so you can see the “wings” open of the famous Brise Soleil at the Art Museum. Then we are off to see the beautiful Pabst Mansion, home of Captain Frederick Pabst, famed beer baron and avid art collector of a priceless collection. The house was the scene of many fine parties and receptions by the Pabst family. Ready for lunch? We hope so! We are visiting the world famous Mader’s Restaurant founded in 1902 and specializing in traditional German cuisine, including strudels, schnitzels, and sauerbraten. Even with your bellies full, there is no time to rest aboard the History & Architectural Cruise on Lake Michigan where you will have unforgettable views of the city. As we depart Milwaukee, we are heading for The Elegant Farmer — home of the award-winning Brown Bag Apple Pie! Their bakery is amazing, and there is plenty of time to check out (and purchase?) the fall produce such as apples, pumpkins, decorations, etc. And a trip to Wisconsin wouldn’t be complete without a traditional Friday Night Fish Fry, so we are stopping at the Evergreen Country Club for their traditional fish fry (other options are also available). We return home with many delightful memories from Wandering Wisconsin. Registration is open.
Fee Includes: All admissions to sites, meals per itinerary above, hotel, motor coach transportation, taxes and tips.
Pick-Up Schedule: We will depart LaSalle Flying J at 7:00 a.m., Mendota Civic Center at 7:30 a.m., Rochelle FSB at 8:00 a.m. Return to Rochelle at approx. 9:15 p.m., Mendota at 9:45 p.m., LaSalle at 10:15 p.m. No pick up offered in Fox Valley.
Sunday, September 24, 2017 -- Chicago Cubs at Miller Park, Milwaukee, WI
Come along with us to cheer on the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs! Don’t fight the Chicago traffic or park miles away from the stadium and forget where your car is parked! Instead ride along with Vista Club to Miller Stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see the Cubbies take on the Brewers. Don’t worry about late September cool temperatures or rain —in case of inclement weather, Miller Park’s fan-shaped roof can close in less than 10 minutes. While at the game, we will enjoy traditions only experienced at Miller Park, like the 6th inning Sausage Races. Cheer on your favorite sausage: the Bratwurst, the Polish, the Italian, the Hot Dog or the Chorizo. If watching all those sausages run makes you hungry, you can use your Brewer’s Bucks to visit the concession stand and sample a few. Get your vocal cords ready — during the 7th inning stretch not only will we sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” we will also sing “Roll Out the Barrel” saluting Milwaukee’s beer-making history! We may be sitting in Brewer Country, but we will be singing “Go Cubs Go”!
Fee Includes: Admission to the game (infield seating on first base side), $10 Brewers Bucks, motor coach transportation, taxes and driver tip.
Pick-Up Schedule: We will depart from Princeton Road Ranger at 8:30 a.m., LaSalle Flying J at 9:00 a.m., Mendota Civic Center at 9:30 a.m., Rochelle Petro at 10:00 a.m. We will return for home immediately after the game is won! No pick up offered in Fox Valley.
