This Rodgers & Hammerstein musical has stood the test of time with its internal love story between Curly and Laurey. Set in Oklahoma, this show created the standards for all future musicals by incorporating music, lyrics, and dance into a well-crafted story. You know the songs ... "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning," "Poor Jud is Dead," "People Will Say We are in Love," "Oklahoma" ... and the list goes on! The show begins at 3:00 p.m. Following the show, we will travel to Lakeview Grill in Yorkville for a delicious evening dinner before returning home.

OCTOBER 2, 2015 -- HIDDEN GEMS, Champaign, IL

What does Japan, coffee, cars, and organs have in common? These are items we will experience as we uncover some of the hidden gems in Champaign.

Our day begins with the beautiful aroma of coffee beans and coffee at the Columbia Street Roastery. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour, and a "thank-you" gift during our visit. Then, it is off to Buzzards Pipe Organ Builders where we will learn about the craftsmanship which is vital to a time-honored, labor-intensive process of creating, cleaning, repairing some of largest musical instruments in the world.

Before we stop for lunch, we will get a unique tour of Alan Strong's car collection. This collection rivals Jay Leno's and has been shared on the tonight show as well. Learn about this unique collection of automobiles along with historical memorabilia from the era of the cars. Afterwards we will enjoy a delicious sit-down meal at one of Alan Strong's establishments, Silvercreek Restaurant.

Following our meal, we travel to the U of I campus. First we will explore Memorial Stadium on a guided walking tour and learn about some of the rich and unique history behind this stadium. Next we will experience a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony at Japan House. Upon entering Japan House, you will asked to remove your shoes which is their tradition. At the request of our members, we have scheduled our second annual trip to this fantastic show to be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. You can have it all with retail buying at wholesale prices! This is one of the largest trade shows in the U.S, and five a year hundreds of vendors congregate with apparel, accessories and a bustling shopping environment, and First State Bank Vista Club will be there. We plan to arrive about 9:30 a.m. and have 4 hours to explore and search for bargains! You will find friendly and inviting show staff and vendors dedicated to making your trade show experience a lot of fun. There is a fabulous assortment of treasures with a focus on Beauty & Style and a wonderful collection of Home & Gourmet products as well. Have a great time shopping for jewelry, fashion, accessories, gifts, décor and specialty items! We will stop for a late lunch at Harner's Bakery & Restaurant to rest our weary feet, and enjoy your choice of a plated lunch with yummy homemade dessert!

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2015 -- "ROUTE 66" -- Circa 21 Theatre, Rock Island, IL

In Circa '21's tradition of presenting musicals that feel as comfortable as your favorite sweater, Route 66 is a new romantic musical comedy featuring catchy story songs and clever down home lyrics that move to the rhythm of America. It is about two people falling in love not only with each other but also with the good ole U.S.A! The delicious Circa 21 plated lunch is included, and you can choose to have your dessert after lunch or at intermission. To further enhance your fun day out, we have also arranged a morning tour of the Quad City Botanical Center, which is comprised of an indoor tropical atrium, a physically enabling garden, a G-Scale garden train exhibit (seasonal), other thriving outdoor gardens, an educational greenhouse, a three-season event canopy, and gift shop. As a public garden they maintain hundreds of plants ranging from tropical varieties to regional zone 5 perennials.  All decked for the holidays, this impressive 3-story barn/museum offers a variety of wonderful displays including antique tractors, cars, school room, toys, along with many other antiques you may recall from Grandma's house.

 Sit and relax to the Holiday Music presented by two different groups: Green-ridge Musical KaPeR Barber Shop Quartet & Dulcimers.

 Wander at your leisure and get re-acquainted with travelers you might have met on other Vista trips.

The Vista Club Christmas Party continues as we travel to White Pines Dinner Theater where we will enjoy a delicious 3-meat Christmas buffet with all the trimmings, AND dessert (3:45 p.m.seating)! Then sit back and enjoy the hilarious Christmas play "Scrooge, the Comedy." Loosely based on "A Christmas Carol," this show has become an annual Christmas classic at White Pines. Offering side-splitting comedy and opportunities for audience participation, this wacky comedy will leave you in high spirits.
