FRIDAY, APRIL 17 -- "CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES IN THE LAST (POTLUCK) SUPPER + BOTANICAL CENTER CHOCOLATE TOUR -- Circa 21 Theatre in Rock Island, IL
If you have laughed along with the Church Basement Ladies previously, don't worry ... this is an all new show! In this latest and final installment of the series, we will be transported back to 1979 and the day of the church's Centennial Celebration. If you have ever attended a church potluck supper, you will feel right at home as the parishioners gather to share hot dishes, cookie bars, and stories from the last 100 years. The day includes a sumptuous lunch including dessert along with a dazzling pre-show revue by the "Bootleggers" (performing wait staff).
On our way home we will stop at the Quad Cities Botanical Center for a tropical escape and Chocolate Tour. This tour takes a closer look at the sweet lure of chocolate. Our addiction to chocolate began more than 3000 years ago in Central America. We'll examine the fascinating history of chocolate, follow the chocolate-making process, taste several exotic-flavored fudges, and make a visit to a chocolate tree (and other highlighted plants) in the tropical conservatory.
Cost: $90 per person
Registration: Open now through Friday, March 27, 2015
Fee Includes: Lunch, performance, Botanical Center tour, motor coach transportation, taxes and tips
Departure: 9:30 AM from First State Bank Rochelle parking lot, return approx. 6:30 PM.
THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 2015 -- "CAROUSEL" -- Lyric Opera House in Chicago, IL
Come with Vista and enjoy this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic which has been named the "Best Musical of the 20th Century" by Time magazine. The show features a beautiful musical score and the most skillful and affecting example of R & H's musical storytelling. The Lyric Opera has taken the liberty to adapt the story, which now takes place in the Depression-era 1930's. They have created a world tinged in melancholy, a world of failed dreams. When the carnival comes, it is the one moment of hope every year that draws everybody out and everyone together. Swaggering, carefree carnival barker, Billy Bigelow, captivates and marries the naive millworker, Julie Jordan. But all too soon, they fall on hard times and unbearable loss. Yet the power of love perseveres, as do the tuneful hits, in this masterpiece of American musical theater. You'll hear "If I Loved You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over," and "You'll Never Walk Alone" among other great hits! The acoustics and ambiance of the Lyric Opera House provide an even great musical experience.
And we have more treats in store for you! We had such a high demand so we ordered Amtrak train tickets for our ride into and out of Chicago! After boarding the train, sit back and relax, read, go to the dining car, or whatever your pleasure. We are scheduled to arrive at Union Station at approximately 10:40 a.m. and will then have about a 3-block walk to our restaurant for lunch (not included in price). Following lunch, we simply have to walk the bridge over the river and we will arrive at the Lyric Opera House.
* Sign-Up Time: OPEN NOW! We will take reservations beginning immediately.
* Cost: $99
* Fee Includes: Train from Mendota, musical performance, and taxes
THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2015 -- "DOUBLE BOOKED IN CABIN 4" & BARNACOPIA -- White Pines Theatre, Mt. Morris, IL
Oh-oh…Someone at the Pines goofed up… big time! Cabin #4 was rented to two different couples for the same weekend! Find out what happens when middle-aged Peggy and Frank find out that young Jackson and Jill have the same reservation and both realize they will be sharing the same cabin for the weekend. See how a couple set in their ways blends with a couple that have a youthful style. Soon you will see how the "yuppies" are teaching the "old dogs" new tricks, and how each couple learns from the other and watch how they bridge the cultural chasm!
Besides being treated to a show that will tickle your funny bone, we will also enjoy a delicious lunch that includes a 3-entree buffet, full salad bar, and cake during intermission. Coffee and tea are included.
After the show, we will visit a museum that will have no trouble bridging the age gap -- Barnacopia! The collection in this 3-level museum is sure to please both the young and old with it's collection of cars, tractors, and memorabilia from the 50's & 60's. Make sure to save room for ice cream!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 15, 2015 -- "GUYS ON ICE" -- Fireside Theatre, Fort Atkinson, WI
You've seen them. Little wooden shanties sitting on lake ice. Puffs of smoke rising from chimney pipes. On a quiet day, maybe the static of a tinny radio filters through plywood walls, across the frozen tundra, back to shore. In a cold world, on a cold day, on a frozen lake, these little signs of life are all most people know of a secret culture that thrives right here amongst us. Well ... wonder no more as we bring you Fred Alley's wildly popular tale of the secret world of ice fishermen. GUYS ON ICE spends a day in the life of Marvin and Lloyd - fishing buddies and home grown philosophers. And now this Wisconsin favorite gets the full Fireside treatment that will keep you laughing from start to finish. Don't miss this side-splitting musical comedy, guaranteed to thaw out your funny bone with songs like "The Wishing Hole," "Ode to the Snowmobile Suit," "Fish is a Miracle Food," and "The One That Got Away."
Of course, we will also enjoy the wonderful matinee lunch provided at the Fireside prior to the show. Today's menu includes: Boneless short rib of beef, Chicken Waterford, whipped baked acorn squash, fresh green string beans, Marvin & Lloyd salad, and topped off with traditional strawberry shortcake! Coffee, tea and milk included. Plus there will be ample time to browse through the spectacular gift shops, purchase bakery items, or relax in the lounge.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 2015 -- "WEDDING BELLES" & WORLD WARS, White Pines Theatre & Roberts Armory
Won't you join us for another dose of those LOL's (Little Old Ladies) we saw last summer? Just when you thought the LOL's couldn't get any sillier, they have been reincarnated in reverse! Instead of becoming someone new, these gals have gone back into the past to portray 5 society ladies in the late 1940s who practically rule the tiny Texas town of Plainview! What better task for them than to help a young lady plan her wedding and prepare for married life with a recruit who is ready to serve his country in the Korean conflict? You never know what to expect from the LOL's but one thing you can count on is the fun we will have experiencing Angie Lowe's latest effort, "Wedding Belles Are Ringing" and all the joy and energy she puts into her plays.
After our delicious lunch and the play, we will return to Rochelle to visit Roberts WWII Armory. This world-class museum is a well-kept secret and only open to the public a few days of the year. The proprietors, Chuck and Lydia Roberts, will be available to answer all of your questions and share stories about their amazing collection of vehicles, uniforms and many other artifacts of WW II (Including a piece of Hitler's bunker).
* R.S.V.P. no later than Friday, June 15
* Cost: $74

THURSDAY - SATURDAY, JULY 23 - 25, 2015 -- GERMAN FEST & MORE, Milwaukee, WI
Mitkommen (Come along) with us as we travel north of the border to the "City of Festivals"… Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a 3 day/2 night adventure. This city hosts some of the largest ethnic and cultural festivals across the nation. Join us as we travel to Milwaukee for their annual German Fest which is known as the nation's largest festival of its kind. One of the most exciting areas in downtown Milwaukee is the Old World Historic District where we will begin our trip with a Walking Food Tour in this area. Don't worry, we only cover approximately 1 mile over a 3-hour time period. Our tour includes local specialties along with learning about the rich history of many buildings and architecture featured along our path. Following the tour, we are off to one of the best local breweries: Sprecher Brewery. We have a chance to view the production area, listen to the company's history, receive a keepsake glass as well as sample the beer or root beer, all you can drink soda, along with a thank you gift pack as we depart. You will have time to visit the gift shop before we leave. Our next stop is the Fairfield Inn & Suites -- our home away from home for 2 nights. You will have time to check in and get situated in your room; then you can utilize the great information we learned on our food tour to enjoy your choice of local restaurants/pubs for the evening.
Day 2 begins with a wonderful breakfast at the hotel before we depart. Our first stop is a guided tour of the Harley Davidson Museum, which includes time on your own to explore the displays or visit the gift shop. Then, we are off to the famous Milwaukee Art Museum. Our time is scheduled so we will be able to see the famous Burke Brise Soleil Display. This architectural masterpiece will amaze you as you watch the huge "wings" open and close while you enjoy your lunch. We will complete our visit with a guided tour (and, yes, they have a gift shop too). Included in our trip to Milwaukee is a visit to the Basilica of St. Josephat which is consistently listed as one of the top rated attractions in Milwaukee. Our guide will take us through this beautiful campus where we learn about its rich history and beautiful architecture. We will then stop by the hotel for a quick break to drop off anything you have picked up during the day, and gather anything you would like for the evening. Then, it is off to Festival Park for the opening night of German Fest! You will be on our own to enjoy the Festival Activities as desired for the remainder of the evening.
On Day 3 we start traveling back towards home with a stop in Lake Geneva. This beautiful place features one of the most interesting boat rides you will ever take….the famous Mail Boat Tour. We will ride on Lake Geneva and watch as a daring young mail carrier jumps on and off the boat to deliver the mail. The catch is the boat never stops so the mail carrier must be in tip-top shape; otherwise he may be taking an unexpected bath. Following this cruise adventure, we will walk over to a local restaurant for a nice plated lunch. After our lunch, we will head back home. We hope you will consider joining us for this mini get-away vacation!
Price includes: Food Tour, Sprecher Brewery Tour, Harley Davidson Tour, Art Museum Tour, Basilica Tour, Admission to German Fest, Mail Boat Tour, Day 1 Lunch, Day 2 Breakfast & Lunch, Day 3 Breakfast & Lunch, Hotel and Baggage, Transportation, Driver's Tip, and all applicable taxes and tips for each tour and meal.
